How to prevent Visual Studio from stripping line breaks from the .playlist files?

If I modify my test playlists in the Test Explorer window Visual Studio, it writes the .playlist files without line breaks. This makes it more difficult to compare files via file comparison tools. I can, of course, add line breaks through other means. If I do, VS works just fine with the playlists, but if I modify them again with the test explorer, then VS removes them again.

Is there a way to get Visual Studio to write line breaks into the .playlist files when it modifies them?
